Arlene was previously at the Camden Law Centre before completing Community Safety Unit Police Officer training at the Crime Academy.
NISHA GAUTAMA
HM COURT SERVICE
Nisha is currently a Legal Team Manager at West London Courthouse, home of the first SDVC court in London. Whilst Nisha was a Senior Legal Adviser at Brent Magistrates Court she contributed to the implementation and development of the SDVC at Brent in collaboration with partner agencies. Nisha chaired the Primary Tier Group where most of the work was done to set up the court, including the formulation of an Inter-agency protocol. Nisha feels privileged to have worked with a wonderful group of people who had both focus and commitment to the setting up of the court and to the needs of complainants coming through the criminal justice process. Nisha also contributed to multi-agency, judicial and legal adviser training as part of our commitment to ensure a specialist and dedicated cadre of professionals and was involved in safety audits and the first court review. The Heads team is grateful to Nisha’s support and assistance during pre-production to ensure a successful two days of film.
SHAN KILBY
SDVC CO-ORDINATOR
Shan Kilby has worked in the domestic violence field for over 6 years and is the SDVC Coordinator based at ADVANCE. Shan previously worked at Brent Community Safety Team where this original idea came about with Cath Kane and Rochelle Dancel. This is the first film project Shan has worked on and really enjoyed the experience, and although she is mindful not to quit the ‘day job’, we don't think she'd do a bad job if she went into production full time. What Shan doesn't know about Macs isn't worth knowing - a skill that has proved unexpectedly useful for Heads.
CATH KANE
BRENT COMMUNITY SAFETY TEAM
Cath is the Domestic Violence Co-ordinator for the London Borough of Brent. An export from the advertising and marketing worlds, Cath has been working in the violence against women sector for over ten years, three of which have been spent at Brent. Cath’s innovative approach to her work has previously involved her commissioning the documentary of survivors’ stories, Short Stories, Long Lives. Cath currently sits on the project committee for the Take Back The Tech Campaign, a campaign that promotes the use of ICTs in the fight against violence against women.
