Background
In the middle of February 2008, Brent Specialist Domestic Violence Court celebrated its first anniversary. As part of the celebration event, Cath Kane called in Rochelle Dancel to script and stage a ‘talking heads’ presentation where each agency stood up to speak about their role in the survivor’s journey through the court process. The presentation was filmed with the intention of re-cutting the footage for a training film for agencies working around the SDVC. Unfortunately, the footage was unusable.

One month and several phone calls later, Cath, Rochelle and Shan Kilby met to discuss the possibility of making a film that would be part training film, part documentary, and that would follow the survivor through the court process from their point of view.
